A Road Less Travelled in 2013

It seems that 2013 had a mind of its own, and that saw us having to alter things occasionally. And we werent the only ones. People travelling to Everest Base Camp (EBC) and/or Gokyu had trouble with flights to Lukla. That didnt worry us though.

One change of plans saw us trekking "well off track", into an area that doesnt receive any trekkers. We were 7 days into the trek before we saw another westerner, as we followed yak paths and shepherds trails. Fortunately we had the staff that were familiar with these areas, even though they acknowledged they had never seen any westerner trekking is this particular region. And as one of our porters, Karmi, was 70 years old, we felt that we were walking on ground that had seen little, if any, contact with Goretex clothing or Vibram rubber soled boots. We were so lucky to have walked this path.

It was such a privilege to walk in a remote area, yet never more than a days trek from the familiar tea houses.

So if this idea appeals to you, or even something that you have been contemplating, then contact us, and let's share one of these experiences.
