Louise helps the Gurkha Welfare Trust

Louise Mc Kenna organised a great trek to the Upper Mustang to raise money for the Gurkha Welfare Trust. That was such a generous thing for her to do, and she raised a substantial amount.

Louise has a connection to the Gurkha's through her father's military service with the Gurkha soldiers. There are too many first hand accounts of the bravery of the Gurkha soldiers to think that is anything but completely true. There is a well known saying " If a man tells you that he is not afraid of dying, he is either a Gurkha or a liar".

It was a testing trip for Louise, as she had a fall not long before leaving; then the weather was unseasonally cold. On one day it was minus 11 degrees celsius at 11am! And windy, so the real temperature would have been even lower. They were walking through snow, in April! What a contrast in climate to most trips to that region.

This was her first trek, so it was certainly a testing initiation, but Louise has some great photos and fond memories, and I feel that when the time is right she will be back for anoother adventure.

Thanks Louise, and I am sure that the Gurkha Welfare Trust will be thanking you as well.
