Langtang, Helumbu and Gosainkund - anytime

Dates:
Monday, October 1, 2012 - Sunday, December 23, 2012

We have such a very strong connection with this magical region, and our friendly guide Kancha, lives in the area with his wonderful family. The family has a very long history in these areas, and are widely respected. Kancha knows the area; he knows all the well worn trekking routes, and he also has quite a few that are only known to those with "local knowledge". Apart from that, he is always smiling !

This area was explored by the legendry H. W. "Bill" Tilman in the 1940's and 50's. We can walk some of the same routes that he trod, and marvel at what a pioneer he must have been. One trek that we havent yet done, but is on our "must do soon" list, is the Tilman Pass. It's a remote camping trek, but would definitely pay homage to this great adventurer by following in his footsteps. If you are interested and are up for a challenge, just let us know.

There are so many reasons why we "Love the Langtang". Access is by vehicle, out of Kathmandu, so there is no waiting around airports and there are no frustrating weather delays with mountain flights. There is also a variety in the trek grades and route options  You can elect to an easy grade trek if you are new to Himalayan trekking or are feeling like a more leisurely trek, or you can tackle some high passes, including the quite challenging Ganga La. And, if you want to walk in areas villages that still cling on to traditional ways, then there is the Heritage Trail. And dont get us started on the wonderful yak cheese.

If you want to climb peaks, again there is choice and a range of difficulty. Yala Peak is a good introduction and is mostly just a uphill snow walk around some crevasses, then there is Naya Kanga and Paldor, which require a bit more experience. If you want to tackle one of these, we can help you.

We will run trips to this area anytime in spring and autumn...and maybe just a little bit beyond too.

So contact us. We would love to show you around Kancha's "back yard" and have you meet his family.
